Ancient peoples tell legends and tales about the spirits contained in colored stones and minerals. Blue stones capture and keep good deeds and spiritual blessings for your lifetime. Light blue turquoise captures good deeds but dark blue stones can hold many times more.

In the Ya Nay He or Circle of Life, light blue turquoise is worn on the body in a circle with the center top stone left out. A single dark blue stone is worn around the neck and holds many future good deeds. When the person comes to the end of their days, the dark blue stone is placed at the top thus completing the Circle of Life.

Each of the turquoise stones represents a specific person in my life who has influenced me to the good. To gather their good deeds and kind acts into the spirit of the mask, they each held in their hands a selection of turquoise that was then used to make the mask.
